Student Services Within Avondale School District

Within Avondale School District, we are proud to offer a variety of Student Services to assist students throughout their educational journey and beyond. It's our mission to be of service in anyway we can to help aid in the success of all students. The programs and services on this page are available to all students residing in the Avondale School District, ages birth to 26, who experience difficulty learning and/or have physical or other health needs.

Melinda Carroll, our Executive Director of Student Services, is the district compliance officer. She ensures that Avondale School District is compliant with Federal and State regulations, and that any inquires or complaints are dealt with promptly and in accordance with the law. She is also responsible for ensuring that the proper notice of nondiscrimination for the following acts is provided to students, their parents/guardians, staff members, and the general public: Title II, Title VI, and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964; Title IX of the Education Amendment Act of 1972; and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

Special Education Department

Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (commonly referred to as “Section 504”) prohibits discrimination against students on the basis of disability. This manual contains information, guidelines, policies, procedures, and forms to achieve compliance with Section 504 with respect to the education of the District’s students, in a manner consistent with the District’s nondiscrimination policies.
