Avondale School District is dedicated to empowering gifted, advanced, and high-achieving students with pathways to excel and reach their highest potential. From our award-winning gifted and talented magnet school, ranked among Michigan’s top ten public schools for the past two years, to the Accelerated Pathways program, Avondale offers an array of opportunities and supports designed for gifted and/or advanced learners. 

With dedicated and certified gifted and talented staff, 25 AP and honors courses, an on-campus Career Technical Education program offering 30 courses in 5 fields of study, dual enrollment options, and an early college program, students have the chance to graduate with an associate degree, advanced certification, or college credit—ready to take on whatever comes next!


GATE Magnet School

Avondale's GATE (Gifted And Talented Education) Magnet School provides an innovative learning environment where gifted students can maximize their academic, social, and emotional growth through personalized learning. The program serves students in grades 2 - 8 residing in the Avondale School District as well as students outside of the district through Schools of Choice.

Dual Enrollment 

Avondale High School students have the opportunity to dual enroll in college courses in Michigan post-secondary institutions when certain criteria are met. Dual enrollment provides an increased variety of options to students interested in pursuing specific degrees or programs.


Enhanced Dual Enrollment

Avondale students may qualify for programs which result in a program of study geared toward professional technical certifications or earning the Michigan Transfer Agreement Stamp of their college transcript.


High School Accelerated Pathways

The Accelerated Pathways program supports high school students who seek academic acceleration by providing access to opportunities for early advancement in their learning. Students receive guidance from the Accelerated Pathway coordinator in course planning, facilitating both academic acceleration and postsecondary planning.

Early College

Avondale's Early College Program is designed to meet the needs of students who are interested in being challenged or who may need support to get to college. An early college program extends high school by one year in order to earn both a high school diploma and and Associate's Degree, 60 college credits, or a technical certificate at no cost to the student.


Oakland Schools Technical Campus

Oakland Schools Technical Campus (OSTC) is an extension of high school and brings students customized, self-directed learning that guides them toward a future career at a state-of-the-art technical campus. At OSTC, students can find career direction, fulfill high school graduation requirements, earn college credits, join student organizations, and make new friends.
