Enrichment programs provide students with opportunities to explore subjects beyond the standard curriculum, fostering a deeper understanding and passion for learning. These programs can expose students to various career paths and life skills, preparing them for future academic and professional endeavors.
Deerfield Elementary School offers students a wide array of extracurricular and co-curricular activities. Avondale Elementary Schools also incorporate career-development within the elementary curriculum and through enrichment activities.

POSITIVITY PROJECT
The Positivity Project empowers America’s youth to build positive relationships and become their best selves. The program partners with schools and equips educators with the resources, training, and strategy to teach their students. The project incorporates 24 different character strengths that students will learn about and work on throughout the school year.
FAMILY ACTIVITIES
Deerfield Elementary offers a variety of family activities throughout the year, including:

- Deerfield Carnival
ONE SCHOOL, ONE BOOK
Deerfield participates in the One School, One Book program, where schools select a book and each student in the school receives a copy to read at home as a family. At school, students celebrate and explore the novel with their classmates. This strategy reinforces reading instruction, increases parental involvement, bridges the home-school connection, and builds a true community of readers.
CLUBS
Deerfield Elementary offers an array of clubs and organizations for students and families to join, based on annual interest. This includes:

- Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)
OAKLAND UNIVERSITY PARTNERSHIP
Deerfield Elementary partners with Oakland University to provide students additional resources, programming, and field trips, led by OU staff and students. This includes:
- OU Athlete Celebrity Reading Guests
- OU Hosted STEM Nights
- Invitations to OU Festivals and Events
- Health & Wellness Lessons from OU Medical Students
KIDS HEART CHALLENGE
The Kids Heart Challenge is a fun and exciting event where student learn about their heart while helping others by raising money for the American Heart Association. During annual assemblies, students will meet kids with special hearts and raise funds for the health of all hearts. They’ll also get moving with fun activities, learn about keeping their hearts and brains healthy, and feel great for helping others!
MARCH IS READING MONTH
March is National Reading Month, a month-long celebration to encourage people of all ages to read more. The month is dedicated to reading in honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday on March 2. The National Education Association (NEA) launched National Reading Month in 1994 to promote literacy and reading for all ages. During the month of March, Deerfield students will participate in a variety of reading activities!
