Accelerated Pathways Application Window Opens December 9, 2024
The Accelerated Pathways program supports high school students who seek academic acceleration by providing access to opportunities for early advancement in their learning. Students receive guidance from the Accelerated Pathway coordinator in course planning, facilitating both academic acceleration and postsecondary planning. Application is for incoming 9th graders, opening December 9th, 2024 for the 2025-2026 school year.
There are 4 parts to the Accelerated Pathways application process.

Avondale GATE Magnet School Application Window Now Open
Avondale School District is excited to share that the application window for the 2025-26 school year at Avondale GATE Magnet School is now open!
The 2025-26 application window will close on February 4, 2025. Families will be notified by February 28, 2025 and a letter of intent will be due from accepted students by March 21, 2025.
If you were unable to attend the GATE Information Night on December 4, the school will be holding an additional Information Night on January 15, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. at GATE Magnet School. This session will provide further details for families interested in applying.

Transcript Requests
How To Request Your Transcripts
Looking for your Avondale High School transcripts? Former students may need their high school transcripts for a variety of reasons - to apply to college, secure an internship or job, apply for a scholarship or grant, etc. Depending on your graduating year, there are two different ways to request your transcript – we've detailed instructions for you below. Also, see the bottom of this page for more information on obtaining verification of graduation for employment purposes.
Transcript Requests for Class of 2009 and earlier
Students who graduated in 2009 or earlier will need to request their transcript directly from Avondale High School. Transcript requests cost $5.00 each and can be paid for with a check or money order payable to Avondale High School, or using PaySchools. Please complete the Transcript Request Form below and mail your transcript request and payment to:

Remember...
- Please allow at least five business days for your request to be processed.
- Anyone over 18 years old must request their own transcript. Avondale High School cannot release a transcript to anyone without your permission.
- Include your name as it was when you attended Avondale High School, on your transcript request form. For example, if you are married now, please be sure to use your maiden name on your form.
- Include your date of birth.
- Include your telephone number, including area code.
- Include the address where you need the transcript mailed. Official transcripts cannot be mailed to the student. Transcripts must be sent directly from Avondale High School to the college, university, employer, etc.
Please call (248) 537-6106 if you have questions. When you call, please be prepared to provide your name (when you attended Avondale High School), graduation year, current address and current telephone number.
Transcript Requests for Class of 2010 and later
Avondale High School utilizes Parchment™ to provide transcripts for students who graduated in the year 2010 or later.
Graduates must submit their transcript request via Parchment™ when applying for college, the military, or a scholarship program that requires transcripts. The service is fast, safe, and available online 24/7.
Visit Parchment™ at the link below to sign up and create a profile. Once your profile is created, you will be able to make your selection from the list of participating organizations. Payment is made online and fees vary depending on the organization or program you are applying for, with most Michigan schools carrying no fee.

Employer Verification of Graduation Requests
Please note, there is a $5 fee for any company requesting verification of graduation for employment purposes. This fee is payable by check or money order made payable to Avondale High School. Employment requests must have a signed release attached.

Current and prospective college students will want to complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to determine their eligibility for student financial aid. Did you know that there are 47,000 annual openings in the professional trades projected by the year 2028? Professional trades careers in Michigan pay about 39% higher than the statewide median for all occupations, with a median salary of $57,000 with little to no student dept. This is a GREAT option for students! Check out the links below to learn about local options.

- Scholarships: This link is updated every time we receive new scholarships.
- College/Career Rep Visits: You will need to sign up and choose the school, trade program, or military you would like more information on. This form is updated every time a college/career rep signs up to visit our campus.
- Application Overview: Attached is the document to reference for any application process. There is also a CommonApp Guide.
- Parchment:You are responsible for sending your transcripts to colleges and trade schools through PARCHMENT. You need to use your PERSONAL email and LEGAL name to set up an account. When you are applying for colleges/trade schools now please DO NOT put "Hold for Grades". It will not be until April or May that you will request "Hold for Grade" to the school you are going to.
- FAFSA: Application does not open until December 1st 2024. Colleges/Trades will need this for your financial aid package. Attached are some Financial Aid Resources.

Michigan Achievement Scholarship - Students and their families looking to secure more financial aid for college are encouraged to register for an informational webinar about the Michigan Achievement Scholarship, which is the newest State of Michigan scholarship program expected to impact the majority of students.
Participants will be able to gather the following information:

- Michigan Achievement Scholarship eligibility requirements
- Michigan Achievement Scholarship award amounts
- Important action items for students and families
- Additional resources and program information
All sessions are free of charge and open to the public. Register for one session only, as space is limited.
Community College Guarantee - Graduating high school seniors are eligible to earn a skill certificate or degree at their local community college tuition-free just by filling out the new and simplified FAFSA. Beginning Fall 2024, students from the Class of 2023 and beyond may be eligible for the Community College Guarantee, which include:
- In-district tuition, contact hours, and mandatory fees.
- An additional $1,000 Michigan Achievement Bonus award for Pell-eligible students, which can be used towards additional college costs.
